Destination Domain for Music in Parks

Two Music in Parks series - Drake Jazz at the Rotunda and The Culture Garden - kick off this Sunday at Auckland Domain.

Drake Jazz at the Rotunda is Auckland’s longest running annual jazz festival set in the historic Auckland Domain band rotunda.

During January, these weekly Sunday afternoon concerts from 2pm to 4pm feature the talents of The Murray McNabb Group (18 January) and The Bex Peterson Collective (25 January).

The Culture Garden presents a wide range of musical genres in Auckland’s more intimate park settings, and provides the opportunity for Aucklanders to discover new music.

During January, experience the voices of the Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artists from the NBR New Zealand Opera (18 January at the Wintergardens), the Mahinaarangi Tocker tribute concert (25 January at the Wintergardens), and the Resident Artists from the NBR New Zealand Opera (31 January at Dingle Dell Reserve).

Music in Parks 2009 has more than 40 free concerts provided by Auckland City Council from January to April including jazz, opera, folk and rock will set the tone for an exciting summer of live Kiwi music in Auckland’s favourite parks and reserves.

This year it is proudly sponsored by Telecom and Drake, and supported by NZCT, The Lion Foundation, Perry Foundation, RadioWorks (Mai FM, Solid Gold, The Breeze, MORE FM, The Edge, Radio Live and Kiwi FM), Juice TV and George FM.
