Reading And Prayer Observance At Lifewise Aotea
Chapel For Victorian Bushfire Victims
LIFEWISE, the
Community Services division of Methodist Mission Northern,
will pay tribute to the Australian bushfire victims with a
special reading and prayer observance at their Aotea Chapel
in Queen Street on Friday, 13 February.
Superintendent John Murray extends an invitation to everyone in the city to attend the brief service from 10.30am. “In addition to the service, one minute’s silence will mark our immense sadness for the victims and their families, and we would also like to honour all of the emergency services and volunteers involved throughout Victoria.”
A condolences book will be available at the Chapel from 10.30am for the public to sign messages. Following the service, the book will go to the Auckland Town Hall, ground floor, Clock Tower entrance until Friday 20 February, before being sent to Victorian Premier John Brumby.
A collection will take
place during the service, and all donations will be provided
to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund, established to assist
individuals and communities whose lives have
been
devastated.
