Exhibiting in Harmony at Pixel Ink Gallery
Artists and friends Rosie Harper and Susan Skelton showcase their talents – a dual exhibition of abstract and narrative artworks – at Pixel Ink Gallery previewing on Wednesday 11 March at 5.30pm.
The Wellington based artist’s present their latest exhibition, titled Harmony which celebrates the alliance of both artist's who have two distinctly different styles of working, exhibiting along side each other in unity .
“I create abstract [artworks] with passion, exploring the boundaries with resulting explosions of colour and shape onto a canvas, reflecting the elements that surround me.” says Skelton
Skelton's approach to art making is an abstract one, where colour and texture play a key part in the energy expressed through the artworks. Harper on the other hand, creates works of a more illustrative nature, depicting scenes and figures captured from her imagination.
Harper describes her artistic process, “I am in a mad passionate love affair with detail and spend many hours just drawing my art onto a large canvas, illustrating a storybook tale … the story is also part of my process,'
Pixel Ink Gallery director, Rosalind Clark says the artists both have unique styles that will appeal to a wide variety of audiences. Viewers will be able to engage in an array of artistic expression, whether it be from an Art Deco inspired piece of Harper's, or a vibrant, textured expressive piece of Skelton's.

Biography (edited)
Biography - Susan Skelton:
Susan
just adores colour, strong texture, warmth and the feeling
of being drawn into a painting. Susan’s influences come
from many streams; an angry ocean, soft warm sand, the sun
rising through heavy cloud, a clear blue sky. By
incorporating these facets into her work Susan produces
abstract pieces that are striking and at the same time very
pleasing to the eye.

Biography -
Rosie Harper:
Rosie has been published in Society
Magazine, USA, exhibited extensively in London, USA and
Europe and has several private collectors dotted all around
the world who have become friends and companions through
this journey she is on. She uses the internet,
(artbyrosie.com - my web gallery) her home and exhibitions
to show her work and has exhibited in several shows during
2008 in New Zealand.
Rosie’s work is mainly Art Deco
style with some Art Nouveau and Surrealism mixed in for good
measure and tends to go for illustrative, bright and
colourful rather than dark and somber by letting her
imagination run riot.
