Strong Start For Festival Of Colour Tickets Sales
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (February 27, 2009) - Tickets sales for the 2009 Festival of Colour have got off to a strong start with over 5,000 sold by the end of the first week of public sales. More than 50% of tickets still remain for the popular arts festival that runs from 28 April to 3 May but with 16 of the 58 shows already sold it, arts enthusiasts are encouraged to book early to ensure they don’t miss out.
“We’re delighted with how tickets sales are going – they are up over 50% on this time last year which is hugely encouraging in this economic climate,” said festival director, Philip Tremewan. “The way the festival is structured allows audiences to see two, even three shows a day so people have been booking literally dozens of tickets in one go! I call it the ‘escalator effect’ – you get on the wonderful festival journey at the beginning of the week and get off at the end, having enjoyed a remarkable diversity of shows and entertainment.”
In light of the high demand, Tremewan is investigating possibilities of scheduling extra performances of certain shows and hopes to make an announcement within the next week regarding this.
There are still over 5,000 tickets available for the festival that features a packed programme of music, theatre, film, art, dance and aspiring conversations from both New Zealand and international artists. As well as performances in Lake Wanaka, many of the shows will tour throughout the Southern Lakes to Bannockburn, Clyde, Arrowtown, Luggate and Tarras.
The Festival of Colour takes place on 28 April to 3 May 2009 and is generously supported by Central Lakes Trust, The Community Trust of Otago, Creative New Zealand, Infinity Investment Group, Queenstown Lakes District Council and Aurora.
