Mountain Warrior Ready To Rumble On Home Turf

Publicity Release
Wednesday March 4 2009

Mountain Warrior Ready To Rumble On Home Turf – On Maori Television!

New Zealand Heavyweight Champion Shane Cameron is set to hold his next fight on home turf – and all the action will screen live and free-to-air on Maori Television.

THE HOME COMING FIGHT screens on Saturday March 7 at 4.00 PM. It will also stream live on the website: www.maoritelevision.com

Cameron says he’s always wanted to hold a fight in his hometown of Gisborne, and the open air event is expected to attract thousands to the town.

The Mountain Warrior’s opponent is American Robert ‘Desert Storm’ Davis, whose record is 41 fights for 32 wins and 9 losses, with 20 wins by knockout. One of his most noteable wins was over former WBA heavyweight world champion Greg Page.

The IBF Pan Pacific Heavyweight title will be up for grabs. The fight is also being seen by many as a chance for Cameron to show his ability for a decisive knockout, ahead of his clash against David Tua.

The undercard fights include:
• Former Queensland amateur champion Ata Fai v former WBA pan-African champion Moyoyo ‘Midnight’ Mensah (cruiserweight);

• Former NZ amateur light welterweight champion Steven ‘Churrr’ Heremaia v Lee Oti;

• Light middleweight fighters Iona Tana Puna v Ray ‘The Muss’ Musson; and

• Welterweight ladies Lisa Mauala v Monty Betham-trained Daniella Smith

Join Maori Television to see all the action in THE HOME COMING FIGHT, live and free-to-air on Saturday March 7 at 4.00 PM.
