AUCKLAND, MONDAY MARCH 16 2009 – UK indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs will provide the ultimate ‘rock n roll soundtrack’ to the legion of celebrities set to strut their stuff on the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards red carpet. For the first time in the history of the Awards, the red carpet will be held in one of Sydney’s most visited locations, giving the public a unique taste of the exclusive pre-show proceedings.
Darling Harbour will set the scene for fans, media, stars and passers-by as they’re treated to a special red carpet performance from Kaiser Chiefs. Recently reunited Blink-182 front-man, Mark Hoppus will be stopping by the carpet to mix things up as fans pour in to watch the celeb-parade. MTV NZ VJ Amber Peebles and The Hills hottie Audrina Patridge will complete the show-stopping talent line-up for the ‘Red Carpet At The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards’ show which will air at 9:30pm (NZ TIME) on MTV New Zealand
Performers at this year’s Awards will include Jessica Mauboy, The Fray, The Killers, Kings Of Leon (via satellite) and Sia, while Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz will host this year’s show.
Voting commenced on Monday February 23, 2009. Viewers can register and place their votes online at www.mtv.com.au/vodafonemtvawards, with New Zealand viewers voting for the Best Kiwi award at www.mtv.co.nz until voting closes on Wednesday March 25, 2009.
The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 will broadcast live from the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, on MTV New Zealand, Friday March 27, 9:30pm (NZ Time) Red Carpet, 10:30pm (NZ Time) main show.
