Washing Needed For New Zealand’s Ultra Long
Clothesline
Colgate-Palmolive is asking New Zealanders
to search their homes for pre-loved, good-quality clothing
and manchester items, to help create New Zealand’s longest
clothesline, in support of New Zealand Red Cross.
The Ultra Long Clothesline will celebrate Colgate-Palmolive’s new 2x Ultra Concentrate laundry detergent range, and aims to reach more than 1km in length.
All clothing and linen items collected for the project will be donated to New Zealand Red Cross, a branch of the world’s largest and most well respected humanitarian organisation.
Colgate-Palmolive Managing Director, Jose Manuel Estrada, says his team is extremely excited about the project.
“2x Ultra Concentrate is our latest advancement in the laundry detergent category and is a result of more than a decade of research and development,” says Mr Estrada. “The concentrated formula means that each load of washing will now require half the amount of detergent, yet cleaning performance will remain the same.”
Mr Estrada says the Ultra Long Clothesline concept is the perfect way to celebrate the launch while contributing all donated, good-quality laundry items to a worthy charity.
New Zealand Red Cross’ National Retail Manager Patrick Cummings agrees and thinks the Ultra Long Clothesline is a great way to help collect pre-loved, good-quality clothing and linen that can then be sold through Red Cross Shops.
“Proceeds from the sale of donated goods will help support New Zealand Red Cross projects and activities at home and overseas,” says Mr Cummings.
“Our chain of shops stretch right across New Zealand and offer a variety of good-quality, well-priced clothing, linen bric-a-brac, books, and in some cases furniture.”
Mr Cummings explains that all Red Cross shops are staffed by teams of dedicated volunteers, providing a valuable source of funding for the organisation.
“The proceeds from our stores help us to help those who need it most,” says Mr Cummings. “We’re delighted to be the recipient of the Ultra Long Clothesline project.”
All pre-loved, good-quality donations can be dropped at Red Cross stores throughout New Zealand. For more information on your local Red Cross store visit www.redcross.org.nz
The Ultra Long Clothesline is scheduled to be erected at an Auckland location in late April and the public will be invited to visit the Ultra Long Clothesline to help hang any further donated items.
