Overwhelming response from New Zealand charities
Overwhelming response from New Zealand charities to win financial support from Flossie.com
Voting links now open for New Zealanders to vote for their charity of choice
NEW ZEALAND, Thursday, 2 April, 2009: Flossie.com, New Zealand's largest online women's portal has been inundated with applications from New Zealand charities wishing to become its preferred charity partner for 2009. Voting pages are now open to the public, giving New Zealanders the opportunity to support their favourite charity by voting for them online at Flossie.com.
Flossie Media Group CEO, Jenene Freer, says this overwhelming response can be attributed to trying times for the not-for-profit sector, currently in need of extra support in a challenging economic climate. After launching the search a month ago, over 140 charities have now registered online on Flossie.com. The charities range from large worldwide charities to smaller, local, not-for-profit organisations.
"We have had a huge response from the not-for-profit sector, illustrating the strain charities must be feeling. By launching Flossie's Preferred Charity, we are able to offer an amazing chance for a Kiwi charity to enhance its donor database and increase donations and also put the power in the hands of the New Zealand public to give back to the community," says Freer.
Supporters who go online and vote will also benefit by being entered in the draw to win a trip for two to Fiji for five nights where they will stay in a spacious beachfront suite with all meals provided. The New Zealand public will account for 80 per cent of the final online vote which puts the power in the hands of Kiwis.
The remaining decision will lie in the hands of the judges - Dame Susan Devoy from Wonderwalkers.co.nz; Tee Twyford, Flossie.com editor in chief; Nathalie Hoftsteed from online charity community givealittle.co.nz; James Austin, CEO of Fundraising Institute of New Zealand and Jenene Freer, CEO of Flossie Media Group.
Nathalie Hofsteede comments: "This is a brilliant opportunity for the New Zealand public to get behind a charity and have their say. There is so much we can do to help out in these difficult economic times and it's as easy as going online and voting," she says.
The winning charity will receive a minimum of $100,000 worth of advertisements across the Flossie Network over a 12 month period and will also receive the proceeds from a Smart Car fundraiser which will be given away on Flossie.com to one lucky person who donates. In addition to this the chosen charity will get its own website on the Flossie Network.
