The Rock And The Edge Most Popular Music Stations In New Zealand*

The latest nationwide commercial radio audience survey has confirmed The Rock and The Edge as the top music stations in New Zealand. *

The Rock remains the most listened to music radio station in New Zealand with a 10.5% national market share.#

“This is an excellent result for The Rock, in retaining such a strong audience. It is a reflection of a station that provides entertaining radio to a passionate audience, and is a credit to the hard work-ing team of staff on air and behind the scenes,” said Jana Rangooni, MediaWorks Radio Group Programme Director.

The Edge has the most listeners of any music station with a weekly average of 409,600 people.*

“The Edge has a strong audience of all ages across New Zealand, which is evident in another great survey result,” Ms Rangooni said.

Ms Rangooni is also pleased at the combined strengthening of the national MediaWorks Radio audience share and cumulative audience, at the expense of competitor TRN.

MediaWorks Radio cumulative audience* has risen 17,500 from 1,396,600 listeners per week to 1,414,100 per week.

TRN’s cumulative audience has declined to 1,448,900 down 33,800 from 1,482,700 per week.

“This narrowing of the gap between the two major players is very encouraging for us and we look forward to seeing that trend continue as we focus on growing the listenership of all the stations in our portfolio,” Ms Rangooni said.
