Porter Memorial Dinner supports childrens charity

MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 20 April 2009

Mark Porter Memorial Dinner supports childrens charity

The Hamilton 400 V8’s officially opened with a bang this year. Many of the who’s-who of Hamilton were spotted at this fantastic black tie evening of glamour and entertainment at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion on Thursday evening 16th April.

The Mark Porter Memorial Charity Dinner was hosted by the Hamilton City Council and Adrienne Porter. Proceeds from the prestigious event, including a charity auction, went to CPS, a charitable trust who for 15 years has been dedicated to preventing harm to children in New Zealand.

Over $30,000 in proceeds from the auction were raised. Janine Evans, Marketing Manager for CPS says “CPS was delighted to be associated with such a great event. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Hamilton, City Council, Adrienne Porter and the Porter family, as well as the numerous other people and organisations who contributed to make this event such a huge success.”

The charity auction, skilfully run by Cameron Turner, included a fantastic collection of sports memorabilia and other goodies, donated towards this great cause. The MC of the evening was Shaun Summerfield, TV3 sports journalist and V8 presenter. Perhaps the highlight of the evening for the many avid motorsport followers who attended, aside from the amazing auction items, was Shaun’s amusing and witty couch interview with V8 drivers Fabian

CPS will be using the funds to support its many programmes and activities designed to increase public awareness and prevent child abuse.
