Opera House Set To Sing With Sound Of Laughter

First Laughs

The Opera House Set To Sing With The Sound Of Laughter!

The Capital will come alive with laughter on May 3 as the New Zealand International Comedy Festival rolls out the red carpet for First Laughs. For the second year running the event will take place in the distinguished surrounds of the Opera House. With more than a dozen comedians, and a history that suggests a sell-out performance, only a masked and disfigured recluse would want to miss this event!

Beloved Wellingtonian Steve Wrigley, winner of the 2008 Billy T Award, will host the 2-hour showcase that features the talents of more than a dozen local and international comedians. Wrigley is joined by three fellow Billy T Winners and small-screen stars, including: C4 star Dai Henwood; host of TV1’s Off the Radar Te Radar, and; ex-Jono’s New Show correspondent Cori Gonzalez-Macuer.

International acts include contributions from the British Isles and Australia. Scotland’s multi award winning Janey Godley is joined by Irish lad and six-time Edinburgh Festival sell-out Ed Byrne, while the filthy humour and loveable nature of Australia’s Mickey D is sure to entertain.

First Laughs launches the Wellington leg of the NZ International Comedy Festival, this prestigious opening event has already outgrown two venues and in 2008 the event moved to The Opera House on Manners Street.

Buying tickets fashionably late will guarantee only disappointment!
