The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra are thrilled to bring their sell-out act home for a magical one-off winter concert at the Michael Fowler Centre on Saturday 27th June.

Tickets go on sale on Monday 11th May for the concert which the orchestra say will be exactly the kind of show they’d put on for themselves in their own living room, except with a few thousand more people in the audience.

The show will feature the charm that the local ukulele-playing champs have become renowned for: sparkling harmonies, blazing uke riffs, hot solos, witty banter and audience singalongs.

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra have captivated audiences across New Zealand with their lively performances, hit CDs and their work on soundtracks such as the Whitcoulls campaign and the TV series Diplomatic Immunity.

Now, the band members are delighted to present their only Wellington winter show in their hometown’s finest orchestral hall. They hope the audience will join the magic and dress up for a first-rate, enchanting winter’s night out. “I’m planning on wearing a three-piece suit, just as I do at home,” says the orchestra’s double bass player, Daniel Yeabsley.

Since their very first public concert way back in 2005, all of their local shows have sold out, so the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra’s advice is to get in fast. All tickets are at the incredibly cheap price of only $15 (plus booking fees), thanks to the support of the Wellington Convention Centre. Yeabsley, the orchestra’s resident math-whiz, explains the numbers: “It’s pretty simple, folks. The earlier you book, the better the seats.”
