Miss Tui 2009 – Kristina Vergis

Bottle, bottle in the fridge. Who’s the fairest of them all? Why, Miss Tui 2009, of course.

Tui has crowned Auckland beauty Kristina Vergis as Miss Tui 2009 in a 5-month competition hosted on the beer brand’s website www.tui.co.nz.

Twenty-four-year-old Kristina was chosen from 56 Miss Tui hopefuls from across the land. The competition drew entries from university students, a woolhandler, a dog clothes seamstress, a politician’s secretary and a professional race car driver to name a few.

Kristina walks away with $1000 cash, a starring role in the highly sought after Tui 2009/2010 calendar and 25c for each calendar sold. Not a kick in the pants when 25,000 calendars were sold this year.

When asked what fun fact or superpower she possesses, Kristina responds, “Well...I can make an amazing car alarm sound. Plus, I am like a contortionist, I can get my arms all the way around my body without letting go and I came sixth in the NZ Monopoly champs a few years back.”

Senior judge and Tui brand manager, Honor Dillon says it was these qualities that won her the title. “The world needs more people like Kristina. And she’s hot too. Tui drinkers are going to love her,” she says.

Tui website visitors were asked to scour through the entries and vote for their Tui queen. During the five months of the competition, the website raked in 15,757 unique visitors and 92,806 votes for Miss Tui.

Kristina is looking forward to heading to the Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka for the calendar photo-shoot at the end of the month. Calendars can be purchased from all good bookstores and www.tui.co.nz from July 1st.

The Miss Tui competition has been running on www.tui.co.nz since 2004.
