Paper Plus Gives Kids A Chance To See Super Group

Media Release May 2009

Paper Plus Gives Kids A Chance To See Funky Monkeys

Kids will be excited to hear that New Zealand’s own musical super-group could soon be coming to a school near them. As the prize for a competition by New Zealand’s largest stationery and bookseller, the dynamic foursome, including Joe, Neil, Chris and Dizzy Dog from the Funky Monkeys, will be bringing their live musical extravaganza to one lucky school.

All that children around the country need to do for a chance to win a lunch-time performance by the Funky Monkeys is simply sign up to the Paper Plus Kids’ Club.

The school with the highest percentage of kids to join the Paper Plus Kids’ Club will win the grand prize. The five runner-up schools will do nicely too, receiving a $500 book pack for the school along with ‘That’s the Story’ t-shirts, CDs and Funky Monkey packs.

Making for a fun and unforgettable experience, The Funky Monkeys’ shows are brimming with opportunities for audience participation. The group’s core belief is in ‘letting kids be kids’, and the performers encourage their audiences to clap, shout, groove and sing along.

Paper Plus Marketing Manager Lyle Hastings says the competition gives kids an opportunity to enjoy a live performance by a Kiwi favourite and take advantage of the great features the Paper Plus Kids’ Club has to offer.

“One great aspect of the Paper Plus Kids’ Club is that kids have access to an online forum where they can discuss popular books with other kids, and comment on the Paper Plus Kids’ Choices book reviews. The Kids’ Club provides an environment where kids can encourage each other to read recommended books and share their opinions of a particular book. This helps kids develop reading skills and writing ability, which is important for their intellectual growth.”

To enter, kids can visit http://www.paperplus.co.nz/kids-club/funky-monkeys

Entries for the Funky Monkeys Competition close Sunday 31 May 2009.
