Direct from a sold out Broadway season, award-winning theatrical phenomenon SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW heads to New Zealand for limited seasons in Wellington, Christchurch and New Plymouth in July and August.

SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW weaves its magic on Wellington audiences at the St James Theatre from July 8-19, before heading to Christchurch from 23-29 July and the Taranaki International Festival of the Arts in New Plymouth from 1-8 August.

Unlike anything seen before, SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW takes audiences on a sensory whirlwind combining theatrical spectacle with unbridled hilarity and the heart-warming poignancy of the art of clowning.

The ensemble cast of clowns use water, cobwebs, bubbles and dry ice to create a world of wonder in which a bed becomes a boat; a web of cotton envelops the audience and one tiny piece of paper begins a joyous swirling snowstorm that sweeps across the stage and engulfs the entire audience in a blizzard of sparkling snowflakes.

Created by Slava Polunin, hailed by many to be the world’s greatest clown, SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW has been touring the world for 16 years, playing to more than 2.5 million people in 30 different countries. Excerpts of the show feature in Cirque du Soleil’s acclaimed production Alegría.

The show has been awarded London’s prestigious Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, New York’s Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, Edinburgh’s Festival Critics’ Award, Moscow’s Stanislavski Award, Australia’s Helpmann Award for Best Visual and Physical Theatre, and has just been nominated for a Tony award for Best Special Theatrical Event.
