A comedy juggernaut has crash-landed…

Fresh from co-creating & performing the SILO Auckland Festival hit show BACKSTORY, the makers of the acclaimed BLINKERS & SPURS offer this International New Zealand Comedy Festival 2009 A SONG FOR THE UGLY KIDS: a dizzying montage of colourful characters - around every corner comes a new philosophy, a song, a dance from the most unexpected source.

A SONG FOR THE UGLY KIDS is a weird dream come true. A comedy show that rattles around like the thoughts in your head. Eastern-European Fashion models, youtube posting recluses, ghosts, cowboys, lonesome aliens, crazy Mexicans and horny household objects…no character is too farfetched for the UGLY KIDS.

As always, Medlock and Musgrove are masters of observation - throwing real life back at us, beautifully distorted. For UGLY KIDS, they have pulled together their own concoction of sketches, vaudeville, clown, stand-up, show and tell, and song and dance, for a razor sharp look at life through the eyes of some seriously crack-up characters.

UGLY KIDS is like a journey into the dark corners of your mind. Visceral, theatrical comedy that walks the line between inappropriate satire and wonderful clown-like naivety,” says Medlock.

Yes,” says Musgrove. “If Family Guy was set in post apocalyptic Picton, it would be a lot like this show.”

A comedy juggernaut has crash-landed! Medlock & Musgrove are bringing their absurd brand of character-based comedy to the 2009 NZ Comedy Festival in A SONG FOR THE UGLY KIDS.

"I really enjoyed it - silly, energetic, honest entertainment, at times delightful, often rude (though never so outrageous as to completely shock) and above all very funny. " - Michael Hurst

"Thanks for your song, it was absurd brilliance wrapped in genius and made me want to take long walks in the park and buy a puffer jacket." - Oliver Driver

"I loved it so much I wanted to lick their faces and have them poo in my mouth."
- Madeleine Sami
