Big Wednesday Jackpot Grows to $18.7 Million

Media Release

Big Wednesday Jackpot Grows to a Herculean $18.7 Million

Big Wednesday’s First Division has jackpotted for another week taking the prize to a Herculean $18.7 million, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

“Big Wednesday has never been bigger and next week our players will be playing for the second largest individual lottery prize in NZ Lotteries’ history,” says Mr McLeay.

“It’s been a long time between champagne drinks for our Big Wednesday players; the last time Big Wednesday was won was in January 2009 when a player in the North Shore won $5.5 million,” says Mr McLeay.

“An $18.7 million windfall would certainly bring the ultimate lifestyle to a lucky winner and would transform their lives beyond their wildest dreams” says Mr McLeay.

At the next draw on Wednesday 3 June, Big Wednesday players will be in to win:

-          $17 million;

-          an Audi R8;

-          a Porsche Cayenne;

-          a $250,000 American Express Platinum card;

-          a $250,000 cash prize towards a luxury travel package;

-          a Four Winns V258 boat;

-          and a $750,000 cash prize towards a bach.

To win Big Wednesday First Division, players need to have the six winning numbers plus the correct coin toss, while to win Second Division players need to have six correct numbers and the incorrect coin toss.

While the top prize was not struck, a lucky player in Wellington has won $75,000 in Big Wednesday’s Second Chance draw. The winning ticket was sold at Manners Mags and Lotto in Wellington and the serial number is 362-34368772-13XX.

Every ticket bought for this Wednesday’s draw was entered in the Second Chance draw.  The prize won was determined by the H or T selection on the first line of the ticket. As the ticket selection did match the coin toss in the draw, the ticket holder has won $75,000.

“Anyone who bought their Big Wednesday ticket from this store should check it immediately," Mr McLeay says.
