Introducing New Zealand’s Next Top Cat Model!
Click for big version
A new fundraiser for the SPCA and Lonely Miaow has launched called New Zealand's Next Top Cat Model, where cat lovers around the country can enter their beloved into an online competition to compete for great prizes and the ultimate glory of being crowned New Zealand's Top Cat.
Masterminded by the cat behind the anonymous underground online giveaway project 'Happy as Larry', and run completely with the help of cat loving friends and supporters, Top Cat model has attracted high profile supporters such as Colin Mathura-Jeffree from New Zealand’s Next Top Model, National SPCA CEO Robyn Kippenberger and TV animal trainer Mark Vette to be the competition’s judges.
Top Cat Model has also generated a fantastic 'kitty' of prizes from sponsors such as Dissero Brands, Masterpet, Carevets and Pet'n'sur, as well as prizes worth over $1000 donated from people within the Happy as Larry community. Prizes donated so far include a Dive! Tutakaka experience, swimwear from Emma Ford, designer T-shirt from Kowtow, and much more.
“We are running this project to raise funds and profile for the SPCA and the Lonely Miaow" says a friend of Larry Cat, "but what’s interesting about it is the way we are focusing on online communities to help promote the fundraiser, celebrate people and their cats, and generate 'acts of giving' from people who want to support the project." The group page on facebook will showcase each entrant’s profile, with videos on You Tube used to document events such as the catwalk and photo-shoot sessions. People can keep track of what’s happening via twitter and email updates.
Cat owners have until the end of July to enter online, at which point the celebrity judges will pick 10 finalists. The public will then be able to register to vote online in September to choose the Top Cat winner from the events the finalists participate and compete in.
“With such a great line up of judges, prizes, the prestigious Top Cat Model title and the opportunity to support a great cause, we hope New Zealander's will visit www.topcatmodel.co.nz to get involved, enter their cat, register to vote and most importantly make a donation and have some fun!” says a friend of Larry.
