Men in the middle Billy Bowden, Nigel Llong and Simon Taufel will play pivotal roles as the ICC World Twenty20 in England enters the Super Eight stage.
New Zealand cricket umpires Billy Bowden and Tony Hill and their colleagues in the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Referees will be under the microscope in the coming week as the ICC World Twenty20 tournament goes through its Super Eight stage.
Tony Hill will stand in the middle on Sunday afternoon (early Monday morning New Zealand time) when Sri Lanka plays Ireland and Billy Bowden will stand in the India v South Africa match on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning New Zealand time). In addition, each will act as third or fourth umpires in other matches.
The match referees’ responsibilities, including women’s matches to be staged from 11 to 16 June in Taunton, will be shared between Ranjan Madugalle, Chris Broad and Alan Hurst of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.
They will be assisted by the third umpire, who reviews contentious decisions on a TV monitor while on the big screen tension builds with a video graphic - set against a heart-thumping soundtrack – which showcases Emirates’in-flight entertainment system ice, which has an array of features, including the latest Hollywood blockbusters and hit TV dramas.
The on-field responsibilities will be shared by all the 12 umpires from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires - Mark Benson, Billy Bowden, Aleem Dar, Steve Davis, Asoka de Silva, Billy Doctrove, Ian Gould, Daryl Harper, Tony Hill, Rudi Koertzen, Asad Rauf and Simon Taufel.
The 12 elite panel umpires will be joined by Marais Erasmus, Nigel Llong, Amish Saheba and Rod Tucker of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires.
