An evening with the legendary Russ Garcia

A CHARMED LIFE

Louis Armstrong…Ella Fitzgerald…Judy Garland... Sammy Davis Jr… Duke Ellington… the amazing Russ Garcia has worked with almost every Hollywood legend you can name and even in his 90s is still in demand for his arranging and producing skills.

A CHARMED LIFE – an evening with Russ Garcia and friends will be a very special event celebrating the legend and featuring some of Garcia’s music spanning his extensive career of more than 60 years, both as arranger and composer.

As Garcia puts it himself – “I’ve got hundreds of stories – some of them true...”

Hosted by Tim Beveridge, the concert will also feature appearances by Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Jackie Clarke, Lisa Crawley and Jane Horder accompanied by the Neophonic Jazz Ensemble, a handpicked band of Auckland’s finest musicians inspired by the legendary bands of the swing era.

Saturday July 18th at 7.30 pm, the RAYE FREEDMAN ARTS CENTRE,
corner of Gillies Avenue and Silver Road, Epsom, Auckland

Tickets are $49.50 (seniors $35) available from iTICKET, ph 09 361 1000

“This is a one off experience; a chance to hear some brilliant music in the company of a living music legend, the amazing Russ Garcia,“ says Tim Beveridge, producer and host in this fabulous presentation, and long time friend of the ‘maestro’.

Garcia continues to compose and arrange both in US and around the world. Now living in Northland, Garcia and his wife Gina recently received the 2009 Queen’s Service medal for New Zealand for their service to Music.
