Grass Roots Netball Teams Score The Ultimate Goal

Twelve community netball teams nationwide have scored the goal of every up-and-coming netballer by winning a hotly contested sponsorship deal that includes an exclusive training session with members of the Silver Ferns.

Netballers across the country collected an estimated 500,000 New World supermarket dockets to create the longest docket in their region and win New World’s Get Sponsored Like the Silver Ferns competition.

New World Netball Sponsorship Co-ordinator, Margaret O’Sullivan, says the prize is a fantastic opportunity for community netball teams and younger netballers alike.

She says, “New World is overwhelmed with the incredible response to the Get Sponsored Like the Silver Ferns competition. Over 2,000 teams entered the competition with the dockets collected stretching over hundreds of kilometres.”

The 12 winning teams are: the Green Bay Primary Whero Ferns; Whakatane’s Otakiri Magic; Waiuku’s College Gold; North Harbour’s Hauraki 1; the Mercury Bay Blue Yr3-4 Fun Ferns; Kaiapoi Primary 1; Central Otago’s QPS Green; Gore High Senior A; Motueka High School A; HSOG from the Hawkes Bay; Upper Hutt College Premier One; and from Manawatu, the Aokautere Angels.

The New World sponsorship package includes a VIP experience at a New World International Test Series match, a training session with a Silver Fern, personalised adidas gear, a team physio kit and much more.

The Get Sponsored Like the Silver Ferns competition is one of New World’s many initiatives to support grass roots netball in New Zealand.
