Media Release 04 July 2009

Lotto Creates 4th Of July Independence For Three Lucky Players

Three lucky players from Nelson and Auckland will be celebrating their independence after winning a share of Lotto’s 4th of July First Division prize, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

“This fantastic prize will give the winners a chance to do exactly what they want to do – whether it be heading off on a long holiday, going on a massive shopping spree or buying that sports car they’ve always dreamt about,” says Mr McLeay.

Two of the winning tickets were sold at Richmond Night N Day in Nelson and Victoria Street Lotto & Newsagent in Auckland. A MyLotto player from Auckland also won the $333,333 share of Lotto’s First Division prize this week.

Lotto Powerball has jackpotted this week, and will be worth an estimated $6 million in next Saturday’s draw.

Strike Four wasn’t won tonight, so jackpots to an estimated $200,000 for next week’s draw.

Tonight’s other big winner was Napier woman Barbara Delaney, whose son spun for her and won a $100,000 home upgrade on Lotto’s Winning Wheel.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight’s Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Paper Plus Meadowbank, Auckland. The serial number is 404-10213378-20XX.

“Anyone who bought a ticket at this retailer should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries’ outlet," Mr McLeay says.
