Bats vs Everyone. Mwa Ha Ha!
With Young and Hungry starting up in Auckland this year, should we be having a bit of an Auckland versus Wellington type stoush over which productions are the best??? I'm thinking celebrity death match with the directors?! All the Wellington ones look pretty fiesty to me...
The Wellington review is in the Dom Post today, and John Smythe's is up on Theatreview - the verdict? Have a read of the Auckland review (ooh another one here too) and see what you reckon. Who do you trust? Auckland or Wellington reviewers? There's another death match waiting to happen!
We've got a diverse bunch of plays to satisfy all of you - so no need for the Film Fest either! Get your coming of age indy with Oyster, your gross out comedy with Sit on It, and your gritty urban drama with Urban Hymns. Real life theatre is so much better... you get to see real, live young peeps doing their thang. I think you might find the ticket prices look pretty sweet too. Aces to BATS.

Tickets: $16 full / $13 Concession, or get a season pass for just $38 full, $28 concession!
Dolores
Romero sings like an angel; Gaia wants to save the world and
Napolean wants to travel far away from it; Velma is into
cruelty-free pork, Lelani wants to beat her up and Chevy
thinks he can explain everything. But what they all really
want to know is who they are, and where they belong in this
big wide world.
"The name draws together what
might otherwise seem to be disparate story lines about a
range of characters. There is roughness and tenderness
throughout, and eventually we see that those who are
roughest on the outside are the most vulnerable within. And
for most, by the end, the world is indeed their
oyster." - John Smythe, Theatreview

A comedy for chicks, dicks and anyone who has ever wondered why girls spend so much time in the bathroom. Set entirely in the ladies toilet of a trashy nightclub, Sit on It is awash with witty dialogue and authentic characters – be prepared to be grossed out, affronted and laughing in the aisles!
"The play is funny in places, but also exceedingly gross in others..." - Ewen Coleman, Dominion Post

_Urban Hymns

Tickets: $16 full / $13 Concession, or get a season pass for just $38 full, $28 concession!
Money talks in Joseph’s neighbourhood and the market place rules. But when he can no longer make the cut Joseph turns to Tobias for an answer and together they make the worst decision of their lives. Survival, greed, art, music, drugs and crime – everyone is searching for their own version of freedom.
"A gripping and compelling piece of theatre... The poetry of Hone Tuwhare woven througout the play gives it an unusual lyricism, which coupled with a mesmerising musical beat made the production hauntingly surreal" - Ewen Coleman, Dominion Post

Health Break
Having Young and Hungry in makes me nostalgic for my teenage years... so let's delve in to the youth of today shall we?
As a chubby teen, I would never have had the guts to put up this song for all to see on YouTube, but this young Denis Leary does just that... perhaps I would have been more the sort to post something up on How Embarrassment!
If you really want to sound like you know what the heck is going on with the youth of today, I'd reccommend Urban Dictionary. If you're going to post on How Embarrassment, I'd suggest translating your sentences in to TXT SPK using this fine translator. U knO U luv DIS schet. Hee hee hee.
