Hallertau
Founder and beer fanatic, Stephen Plowman, outlines how
important it is to strike the right combination between beer
and food.
“Hallertau beer is hand-crafted to appeal not only to lovers of beer but also to wine drinkers. Given the unique nature of what we offer, it’s more ideal for teaming up with food than your common garden variety beer.
When you’re drinking beer it’s important that what you’re eating brings out the best in the liquid amber and vice versa. In the restaurant we focus really hard on matching the different varieties of Hallertau beer with the menu to provoke a flavour explosion so that guests have a mindblowing food and beer experience. We need to encourage Chefs and budding Chefs around the country to focus on exciting diners’ tastebuds with quality beer matches, and the Beer & Food Match is a great way of doing that,” he explains.
The Hallertau Brewbar & Restaurant located in tropical Northwest Auckland is the brainchild of self admitted ‘beer guru’ Stephen Plowman and has been operating since 2005. Its artisan beer and food showcases Plowman’s love of all things beer combined with the basic principle of the epicurean lifestyle for guests to enjoy. Using local food and wine together with hand-crafted beer, they have created a gourmet drinking and dining experience for those with sophisticated and adventurous palettes.
“It’s time Kiwis woke up to the fact that beer isn’t just for swilling, instead you can have a very civilised and enjoyable dining experience with the right beer and food match. And as responsible hosts, you should be serving exceptional food to go with quality beer – the days of serving chips and dip with beer are gone,” says Plowman.
If you can’t get along to see the action, plan a visit to Hallertau’s Brewbar Restaurant in Riverhead where you can enjoy naturally brewed beer served fresh on tap matched with fine New Zealand fare, seven days a week from 11am til late at 1171 Coatesville-Riverhead Highway, Riverhead, ph 09 412 5555 or visit www.hallertau.co.nz.
Make sure you try the fantastic Hallertau range of beer yourself - appearing in fine eating and drinking establishments across Auckland. If they don’t have it, insist they get it.
