Netball New Zealand and Southern Cross announce new partnership
Netball New Zealand today announced they have entered into a new two year partnership with the Southern Cross Medical Care Society.
Southern Cross, a not-for-profit organisation, is now an official supporter of local netball at school and club level, NZU21, NZ Accelerant and the Silver Ferns.
Silver Fern captain Casey Williams has also been appointed by Southern Cross as their ambassador, fronting the Southern Cross “Healthzone” health and wellness section of netball New Zealand’s new website, www.mynetball.co.nz.
Netball New Zealand Chief Executive Raelene Castle believes the new relationship will take netball to the forefront in sport in terms of providing excellence in wellness for its members.
“Southern Cross is a very well respected health care provider and, as a sporting organisation who works hard to create the right environment and balance for our players at all levels, netball New Zealand is excited about entering into the new partnership which has so many synergies,” she said.
Southern Cross Healthcare Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ian McPherson, says netball was a natural fit with New Zealand’s largest health insurer and its focus on the health and wellbeing of its 840,000 members.
“From grass-roots, school and club competitions to high performance teams, netball embodies the health and wellness message that Southern Cross stands for,” he says.
“We are particularly keen to focus our efforts on supporting local, grass-roots netball. As one of the country’s largest participation sports, netball is playing an important role keeping tens of thousands of New Zealanders active and healthy.”
