$150,000 raised for charity through online auction – only days to go
It’s a week of big numbers for the Sella Big Auction as organisers count down to the Big Night In.
Over 3600 bids have been placed on the 170 items currently listed raising over $150,000 so far. By the time Big Night In goes live there will be over 200 items listed – with all money raised from bids going direct to KidsCan StandTall.
“We can feel the momentum growing through the site; it feels like the whole of New Zealand is behind Big Night In already.” Said Shane Bradley, Founder of sella.co.nz
“From Nelson Mayor Kerry Marshall donating the Nelson flag, to small business putting up products and services – everyone is getting involved. Registrations to the site have gone up to sky rocketed as well with 10c per new registration going to the final fundraising effort.”
Helping those people up and down the country get their goodies to the Big Night In is The Warehouse Big Pick Up whereby a six-wheeler rig has been driving the length of New Zealand collecting memorabilia from various towns along the way and will make its final stop this Friday at the Alingi base, with a truck load of goods, to be auctioned off via sella.
Certain auction items are gaining notoriety all of their own – the ENZA and Safekiwi apple which has an outline of New Zealand in its skin featured in a photo shoot with Prime minister, John Key last week at an Auckland primary school.
Then of course there’s the main big ticket item – the beach house is currently sitting at $75,000 and generating a lot of interest.
If bidders can’t quite stretch to the beach house, in the opportunity for a bargain category would be the Kiwiana Fun Package from Savebarn. The pack includes a three metre aluminium boat and outboard, a BBQ , a marquee, fishing gear, full outdoor table and chairs set and a 110cc quad bike - to just name a few of the goodies. Bids for this are currently sitting around the $5000 mark – well under half its value. This means someone has the opportunity to be set for the ultimate summer while helping an ultimate good cause.
