Fly fishing web site voted one of New Zealand's
favourites
August 6, 2009
A fly fishing
website has been confirmed as one of New Zealand’s
favourite websites. nzfishing.com reached the finals of
the 2009 NetGuide awards along with web giants such as
TradeMe and Stuff, and was runner-up in the Sports and
Recreation section.
The NetGuide awards are based on the number of votes from visitors, so nzfishing.com’s high placing was the result of a large number of people voting for nzfishing.com as their favourite site.
nzfishing.com came a close second to the category winner, mountain biking site zorb, so “ it means that we beat the All Blacks and other high profile sites.", said Doug Stevens the content and marketing manager for the site. “Perhaps it’s not so surprising when you consider that fishing is meant to be the biggest participant sport.”
Web designer Bev Stevens said "We are delighted with the result as it shows that a great number of people are not only using our site to plan their fishing trips but regard it highly enough to take the time to vote for it", nzfishing.com continues to grow and develop as more information and features are added. "What makes nzfishing.com so valuable to users is that it is always up to date with descriptions, reports, changes to regulations and other information of interest to all anglers", says Doug.
