Finalists For Film And Television Awards

Finalists In Television Categories For
Qantas Film And Television Awards 2009 Announced

The finalists in 41 general television, news and current affairs, and documentary categories for this year’s Qantas Film and Television Awards were announced today.

New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council chief executive and awards organising committee co-chair Rick Friesen congratulated all the finalists.

“There were 515 entries for the television categories, and it was an extremely tough and time-consuming job for the judges to select 123 finalists.”

Mr Friesen says the standard and number of entries in this year’s awards was very high, and reflected the quality of New Zealand’s television industry.

“Our television industry continues to punch well above its weight, and those who work in it can be justifiably proud of their endeavours.”

The Qantas Film and Television Awards programme is jointly organised by the Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand and the New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council.

The finalists in the film categories were announced on Wednesday 5 August.

The Qantas Film and Television Craft Awards will be announced during an awards lunch at the Civic Theatre in Auckland on Friday 4 September. The Qantas Film and Television Awards (including highlights from the Craft Awards) will be presented at an evening ceremony at the Civic Theatre on Saturday 5 September.
