New president elected

New Zealand Kindergartens (NZK) welcomes Janice Bromell as president. “I am committed to the role kindergarten has to play in the development of our young children” says Janice Bromell.

“Kindergarten associations and NZK play a large role in the high quality early childhood education that is provided in kindergartens. Over the past few years, kindergartens have changed and are continually changing to meet community needs” says Janice Bromell. “In order to support and strengthen local kindergarten networks it is imperative that there is a committed and professional board operating at the national level” Janice Bromell says.

Elected at the NZK annual conference on 8 August 2009, Janice Bromell brings a wealth of experience as a governance board member in both the kindergarten and childcare sectors. Janice Bromell has been involved with Tahunanui Kindergarten in Nelson, and is currently president of the Nelson District Kindergarten Association and board of trustees chair at Tahunanui School.

Janice Bromell brings to the role experience as a qualified accountant and information management specialist having worked in senior roles in the education, finance, manufacturing and service industries.

“Kindergarten is iconic in New Zealand. We celebrate our 120th birthday this year and look forward to the next 120 years continuing to offer quality education to young children. I’m looking forward to playing my role in that” said Janice Bromell.

Janice Bromell is in the position for a year, heading up a seven member governance board.
