Ellerslie 2010 offers better visitor experience

Ellerslie 2010 offers better visitor experience

Better traffic management, smaller queues, improved signage, more food and beverage outlets and a greater number of relaxation areas will create a better visitor experience at the Ellerslie International Flower Show in 2010, says Show Managing Director Dave Mee.

“The management team has spent the last five months addressing the teething issues at this year’s inaugural Christchurch Show relating to parking, seating, queues, venue layout and signage.

“Plans are now in place to ensure next year’s Show will offer visitors an even better experience.”

He says a new traffic management plan has been developed which includes better signage in and around North Hagley and areas of the city to direct traffic to the venue and plans for better access off Harper Avenue.

“We really want to encourage visitors to either walk or take the bus to Ellerslie in 2010.”

Mr Mee says details are being finalised to use bigger marquees at next year’s event with multiple entrance and exit points to help reduce queues.

“There will be better signage and management of queues and all floral demonstrations will be removed from the main marquees to help improve visitor flow within the marquees.

“The Show will also be open longer, 10am to 7pm each day, except Sunday, and with Specific Day tickets, Half Day tickets from 3pm and a limited number of Any Day tickets we can better control the numbers of visitors on any one day.”

He says while everything is being done to mitigate the issues with queues, it is important for visitors to understand with an event of such an international standing as the Ellerslie International Flower Show it was impossible to completely eliminate the queues.

“Visitors need to accept some queuing will always be part of the environment.”

The number of food and beverage outlets spread throughout the venue will be increased by 60 per cent and there will be a
significant increase in the number of seats and relaxation areas.
