The Body Festival – bringing back the boogie

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Body Festival – bringing back the boogie in 2009!

It’s time to shake off those winter blues and join in the celebration of dance that is the Body Festival 2009.  Running from 25 September to 11 October, the Body Festival offers Christchurch residents the chance to move their bodies like never before!

With the lift in mood that Spring brings, the Festival is perfectly timed to coincide with our natural desire to move our bodies again. Taking its cue from nature, the Body Festival practically begs people to get out and celebrate the best in physical movement that the body has to offer – dance!

As in previous years, the 2009 Festival offers up the foremost of local and national dance talent to its enthusiastic and eager audiences.  Featuring a truly dazzling array of amateur and professional productions, through to an impressive display of over 40 community dance workshops, the 2009 Body Festival offers something for everyone; from the very young to the young at heart!  If it is dance related, then the Body Festival has it, and intends to use it to bring back the boogie in 2009!

Look out for the Body Festival’s launch event – the World’s Largest Line Dance Attempt – hosted by Classic Hits breakfast hosts Jason Gunn (Dancing With The Stars) and Dave Fitzgerald, and featuring Country ‘n’ Western duo ‘Barross’.  Offering the Christchurch community a friendly challenge, the Body Festival lays down the gauntlet and asks, “Have you got the fastest feet in the West?”  The launch event is sure to attract an impressive display of dance enthusiasts who are keen to take up the Body Festival on its good natured challenge.

The ‘World’s Largest Line Dance Attempt’ takes place in Christchurch’s Victoria Square on Friday the 25th of September from 5.30pm.
