Richie Rich Launches
Collection Inspired By His Muse Pamela Anderson
Air New
Zealand Fashion Week 2009
New York, NY - Richie Rich, New York fashion designer will launch his latest collection, A*Muse, featuring Pamela Anderson at New Zealand Fashion Week in Auckland on September 25, 2009. This will be the first stop on a worldwide promotional tour in which Rich and Anderson will be introducing the brand to major cities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
The A*Muse brand will be an animal-friendly, organic line, consisting of bathing suits, designer printed t-shirts featuring images of Pamela Anderson and the designer himself, including hoodies and zip ups, a full range of casual dresses, and beachwear.
Richie Rich has been defined by many as New York’s modern day Warhol. It seemed appropriate that Richie would incorporate the images of the muses that have inspired him over the years into his designs. Richie knew, from the beginning, that the first muse for this collection had to be his longtime friend, Pamela Anderson. “Pam has long been a source of inspiration to me, she has this amazing combination of the sweet girl next door but in the most glamorous of ways -- I love her lust for life!”Richie describes the A*Muse collection inspired by Anderson as, “fun, sexy, surfer girl from Malibu meets Andy Warhol.”
When describing her relationship with Richie, Pamela stated, “Richie and I are soul mates. We both love to surprise people; we both love to have fun. We both love clothes, even though I don’t always manage to wear them full time! I am proud that he has anointed me his “MUSE” for these designs and collaborating with him is a fantastic experience.”
ABOUT RICHIE RICH:
Richie
Rich rose to fame in the world of fashion when he launched
the Heatherette brand in 1999. Richie showed up at a party
in one of his own customized tops and caught the attention
of stylist Patricia Field who asked Richie to create one of
his “Name” shirts for Sarah Jessica Parker’s character
on Sex and the City. The now infamous Heatherette
“Carrie” t-shirt was featured worldwide in HBO’s
massive Sex and the City ad campaign creating an almost
instant celebrity following. Word spread and soon Gwen
Stefani was featured wearing one of his tops in
Entertainment Weekly, Rich suddenly found him self on tour
with Aerosmith creating nightly wardrobe magic, and a young
not-yet famous Paris Hilton was buying Heatherette creations
off the rack as fast as Richie could crank them out. Richie
has created Hello Kitty couture, crafted sequined and
studded mini dresses for Shirley Manson and Mariah Carey,
neon-tattered tees for Pink and Justin Timberlake, and
dazzling, one-of-a-kind looks for David Beckham, Alicia
Keys, and Britney Spears. Richie has become one of the most
notorious fashion designers in America and has built and
created a lifestyle brand that truly cultivates the pop star
in everyone.
ABOUT PAMELA ANDERSON:
To say that Pamela
Anderson is enjoying a full life would clearly be an
understatement; the most recognizable icon of the new
millennium continues to hit her stride again and again in so
many different fields. This model, actress, mother,
entrepreneur, philanthropist and activist has appeared on
more magazine covers than any other star of her generation
and been named in the Guinness book of World Records as
“most downloaded”.
Her unparalleled career in television extends from the extraordinary global phenomenon which was Baywatch to her recent global documentary series “Pam – Girl on the Loose”. Pamela’s favorite movie moment so far is, of course, “Borat”. Though she does not think of herself as “an actress” her performance convinced a lot of people that she had no idea she was about to be kidnapped!
She has collaborated with some of the
most esteemed artists and photographers of the age and is a
collector in her own right, numbering Richard Prince,
Ruscha, Koons, Marilyn Minter, Mel Ramos, Santé, Terry
Richardson and LaChapelle among her friends and her favorite
works.
Current projects include her role as the
“face” of the current campaign for the work of a beloved
friend, the legendary and revolutionary designer Vivienne
Westwood.
Later this year Pamela is about to launch her own fragrance “Malibu by Pamela Anderson” followed by an extensive collection of related products. Her work for PETA is more intensive and consuming than ever and negotiations are ongoing for the launch of several international spa/hotels based around Pamela’s name and her principles. At forty one years old this powerful woman, devoted mother, sex symbol and style icon continues to live life on her own terms and give meaning to everything she does.
