Press Release September 28 2009 •

Liam Finn Headline Act for Marlborough Wine Festival • Organisers Anticipate Another Sell Out

New Zealand’s largest and longest running wine festival will feature one of the biggest new performers on the block, Liam Finn, on February 13 next year.

After more than 25 years of celebrating the unique flavours of New Zealand’s premium wine producing region, The Marlborough Wine Festival is preparing for another spectacular event. Set amongst the vines of the region’s oldest vineyard, Montana’s Brancott Estate, the festival is expected to attract thousands of people from around the world.

Not only is the Marlborough wine and food festival synonymous with quality local produce and world class wines (alongside being the only NZ festival of its kind listed on the AA website's 101 Mustdo Weekends), it is also fastgaining a reputation for headlining fresh New Zealand talent, having starred the likes of Salmonella Dub, Kora, The Black Seeds and The Phoenix Foundation in previous years. Other major acts will be announced later in the year.

Liam Finn, who Rolling Stone Magazine touted as “An Artist to Watch” is renowned for his frenetic live shows, plus his ability to perform on a vast range of instruments. Having starred on the David Letterman show last year, and about to front for renowned group Pearl Jam next month, his appearance at the Marlborough Wine Festival will be his first in this part of the world.

Marketing Manager Marcus Pickens says the festival is now synonymous with New Zealand’s up and coming performers, and with many new features being introduced in 2010 the festival promises to be a fantastic experience for everyone.

With over a 100 wineries based in Marlborough, the opportunity for visitors to try the very best of the region's wines matched with a stunning array of regional food, is one of the major attractions. This combined with wine tutorials and the annual Fashion in the Vines show has led to a sell out event in the past four years. Only 8,000 wine lovers will get the chance to attend the Marlborough Wine Festival so purchasing a ticket early is the best advice.

Tickets will go on sale for the February 13 2010 event on Thursday October 1 st and can be purchased from TicketDirect at www.ticketdirect.co.nz or phone 0800 224 224.
