Island Time catches on for New Year's Eve 2010

Island Time catches on for New Year's Eve 2010

Last year people were given a choice from the yearly mud-baths and dust-bowls for New Year's Eve with the exclusive Island Time party. It was so successful that it's back: better, bigger and louder.

Island Time, held on Auckland's Waiheke Island, is back for another night of celebration and slinky sounds, headlined by luminaries of New Zealand's electronica scene The Nomad, International Observer, and hip hop maestro King Kapisi.

With an increase of capacity and an international-class line-up, Island Time 2010 has boosted capacity to 450 to see in the New Year at the Sandbar in the Hauraki Gulf's idyllic Waiheke Island.

Joining the heavyweight line-up will be guitar virtuoso Oakley 'O.G.' Grenell, and DJs Cadence (Wellington), Tapes and Linechecker (Auckland) and Jungle Fari (Dunedin). A top-notch visual experience will be provided by Subcut.

With five studio albums and a slew of awards, The Nomad is one of New Zealand's most prominent electronica artists and for Island Time 2010 he is joined by a bona fide legend of Aotearoa hip hop, King Kapisi.

Formerly one half of 80s pop legends The Thompson Twins and producer of hit records for Blondie's Deborah Harry, International Observer (Tom Bailey) has made New Zealand his home while conducting a global dub musical odyssey.

Last year tickets for this exclusive event sold out fast. Island Time 2010 will be no different. Limited early-bird tickets are $60, and pre-sales $75 available from Ticketek and the Waiheke Information Centre.

And to sweeten the deal, people will be offered a free BBQ and two complimentary drinks before 7pm to help set off the evening in the best possible way.
