For The Young Of Body And Heart

The Kids Show, The Teen Show & Tertiary Colours

The future talents of New Zealand dance will melt your heart with their toes!

Dance is not limited to a particular age or a particular style – it can be enjoyed by the oldest couple performing Tango to the youngest person krumping and clowning, Tempo’s Youth programme will explore the diverse range of dancing styles on offer.

For the very young (or young at heart), The Kids Show is a variety showcase guaranteed to get kids and adults boogie-ing in their seats. This is a kid friendly performance featuring some of the brightest young dancers that are still in school. The Kids Show includes the talents of the Mt. Eden Ballet Academy, the vim and vigour of Boyzdance, modern Bollywood dancing from Monisha School of Dance and contemporary dance by Kids Unlimited. This delightful collection of charming dancers means that The Kids Show will contain an entertaining variety of styles of dance, including ballet, bollywood, hip hop and contemporary. This is an event for kids by kids.

The Teen Show is a mixture of contemporary dance, salsa and ballet; all of these styles are brought together to create one hugely entertaining performance. The show is made up of dynamic short works from One Step Beyond, The Dance Studio, Kids Unlimited, Mt Eden Ballet Academy and a brand new short dance film from Pointy Dog.

The youthful vibe continues with Tertiary Colours, which is an amazing eclectic mix of performances from top dance students from University of Auckland, Unitec, AUT University, East Auckland Performing Arts School and Apollo Theatre School. These highly energetic and unique performances showcase the talent of tomorrow’s generation of dancers. Featuring works by senior choreographers Shona McCullagh, Patrick Sunderhauf, Phillippa Pidgeon, PJ Lee and more.
