Made Up & On The Spot!

We're gearing up for the STAB seasons with a short sharp jab of Improv! The 2nd Annual NZ Improv Festival starts Wednesday, and this time it's going global, with Impro Melbourne popping across the ditch for an appearance. I tells ya, laughing hard is the best way to gear up your abs for Summer, so check out who is on when and book - this is one of the busiest weeks of the year at BATS!

STAB was officially launched on Friday and would you believe that Live At Six opens next week? Check out the trailers on the You Tube channel and make a date to come to the media awards: they're on from Saturday 17 October, with a preview on the 16th...

The PlayPit - TONIGHT!

TONIGHT at 6pm: If I was a Christian Fundamentalist, Would You Still Be My Friend? and Dust by Charlotte Simmonds

read by Johnny Potts, Charlotte Bradley & Paul Waggot.

The PlayPit is back after a month off with a suitably awesome pair of short plays for your enjoyment! Charlotte Simmonds - nominated for the Montana Book Awards, playwright, and BATS volunteer - shares with us her latest works for the stage since Black Coffee. If I was a Christian Fundamentalist, Would You Still Be My Friend? and Dust melds Charlotte's poetic language with her sharp tongued Theatre.

Kick back in the informal atmosphere of The PlayPit and throw around a bit of discussion after the reading, or just listen to these great plays read out loud.

The PlayPit is a series of monthly informal playreadings held in The Pit Bar. Writers are always welcome to submit scripts for a reading to Steph Walker at BATS - email steph@bats.co.nz

Mental Health Break

I don't know what this is, but I'm bookmarking it to check back on regularly. You should take a stab at it too. Or, check out the sassy Drag Queen we have coming our way in late November!

Japan always has cool stuff, and this is possibly the coolest cafe ever (thanks for the link Mia). What else is cool in Japan? Well you can buy stuff here that is apparently kawaii & coolish (no jokes), or pop over and try out these vending machines.

And for those of you who watched the boxing on the weekend, let us remember how David Tua himself was KO'd on Wheel of Fortune.
