Pisa Range Estate Arrives In New York to Acclaim

PRESS RELEASE

Pisa Range Estate wines have just in arrived in New York this week to acclaim from Stephen Tanzer – a major US wine critic. Listed as one of “The best new sauvignon blancs and pinot noirs I found this summer” Stephen Tanzer had this to say -

2007 Pisa Range Estate “Black Poplar Block” Pinot Noir

Bright, healthy dark red. High-pitched aromas of black fruits and spices, lifted by pepper and complemented by loam and cola nuances. Dense but juicy, with a sappy, spicy quality leavening the savory meaty and black cherry flavour. A complex and energetic wine but not at all a fruit bomb. Offers a rather suave texture and plenty of palate presence. This distinctive pinot finishes sappy and long. (Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY) 90 points

“The timing of this review just couldn’t be better for us, as this vintage has only just been released here in New Zealand and internationally. Although we’ve been exporting to the USA for some years, we’ve only recently concluded an agency agreement with Michael Skurnik Wines, New York. This well known and highly respected fine wine merchant - particularly with the restaurant trade in New York - offers an extensive portfolio of fine pinot noirs from Burgundy and around the world. We are very proud to be included in their select portfolio. It’s the quality of the wine that’s made this possible and to launch our latest release in New York, with such a review from Stephen Tanzer, is extremely rewarding” Warwick Hawker, Owner said.

Grown in the Pisa district, north of Cromwell this vineyard has been producing since 2002 and exports worldwide. “It’s extremely encouraging for a small boutique, single vineyard wine producer, to receive accolades like this in such a competitive international market from a writer, with expertise in pinot noirs from the Old and New worlds. Our wines are beginning to achieve great consistency from vintage to vintage but are also proving they can cellar well. How long they will cellar for - only time will tell” he said.
