European Premiere for Topp Twins Movie

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Monday, 12 October 2009

European Premiere for Topp Twins Movie

Following the film’s award winning success at the Toronto International Film Festival (Cadillac People’s Choice Award – Documentary) and the Melbourne International Film Festival (Audience Award – Documentary), The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls has been invited to screen at the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
Director Leanne Pooley will attend as a guest of the Festival to present the film to audiences.

“I am very excited to be screening Topp Twins – Untouchable Girls at IDFA as it is the most prestigious documentary festival in the world and the audiences are really discerning, which is great for a filmmaker”, says director Leanne Pooley. “It will be interesting to see how the humour goes down in a non-English speaking country, but I feel confident the Twins will charm them in Amsterdam just like they did in Canada and Australia!”

Released in NZ earlier this year, The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls is the most popular New Zealand feature of the year and the most successful documentary to ever screen theatrically in New Zealand.

About IDFA:

Founded in 1988 to stimulate the national and international documentary culture, IDFA has developed into the largest and most versatile documentary film festival in the world. Every year, the Festival presents over 250 international documentaries selected from a huge field. They select documentaries that are interesting from a stylistic point of view, or are particularly innovative, relevant to social issues and successfully manage to communicate with their audiences. Renowned directors such as Werner Herzog, Kazuo Hara, Robert Kramer, Michael Moore and Ulrich Seidl have all received special attention at IDFA in the past.

The 22nd International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam will be held from 19 – 29 November 2009.
