LG’s National Texting Competition set to find New Zealand’s fastest texter
LG Mobile New Zealand is looking for New Zealand’s fastest texter in a nationwide competition.
First stop in the search will be Christchurch, then on to Wellington and Auckland to find the fastest texters in the country. The national final will be held in Auckland on 22 November.
The winner will be crowned LG National Text Champion and will go on to represent New Zealand at the LG Mobile World Cup in New York early December 2009, where $100,000 US in prize money is at stake.
LG Mobile New Zealand Business Manager, Adam Gordon believes this competition is a great way to link New Zealand consumers with LG Mobile’s exciting new products and a chance to represent the country.
“New Zealanders send more than six billion texts a year, making us perhaps the biggest per capita users of text messaging in the world. LG Mobile is launching an innovative new range of QWERTY handsets between now and Christmas, perfect for mobile users who text heavily and use social networking sites, so what better way to celebrate than by finding the fastest texter in the country,” said Gordon.
The LG Mobile National Texting Championship road show begins in Christchurch on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November at Northlands Shopping Centre, Papanui. It then travels to Wellington and the North City Shopping Centre, Porirua on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November.
The competition heads to Auckland on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November at Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington, with final heats held on Saturday 21 November and Sunday 22 November at Girls Day Out, ASB Showgrounds, Epsom.
Contestants will be eliminated until one finalist from each city is found. Finalists from Christchurch and Wellington will join Auckland finalists to compete for a first place prize of $10,000 and a trip to New York to represent New Zealand at the LG Mobile World Cup.
The final will be held on Saturday 22 November, at Girls Day Out.
Entries into the nationwide heats will be taken at the location on the day, at each respective venue. Details of the competition will be unveiled on the day and entrants will compete using the mobile handset of their choice.
