Round off a year to forget with goodness worth celebrating

New Zealand’s online giving website Givealittle.co.nz has launched an interactive campaign to encourage businesses and individuals to support charity and causes this Christmas.

Fronted by Givealittle Elf, charities and causes will be making wishes that can be granted in full or in part by campaign participants. Online and offline activity will be merged to create an interactive and fun process for all involved.

Using social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr those granting wishes can involve their networks in selecting wishes to grant and share the collective results.

Vouchers are also available to those who wish to give the choice to their clients and staff. These vouchers are redeemed by the recipient against any charity of cause of their choice online. Givealittle is encouraging those who “elf” offline to take photos and video of their gift giving and share these stories online.

‘Christmas is a key time for charity fundraising and it can become rather overwhelming for the potential donor so we looked for a way that could see a whole range of people being involved at a varying range of levels, ‘ said Givealittle Chief Executive Nathalie Hofsteede. “Involving your family, clients and staff in the decision process can democratize your giving spirit at Christmas, allowing everyone to share in helping causes close to the heart”.
The Givealittle Elf character is charged with the phrase “You’ve been elfed” when donations and wishes have been granted.

“What better way to demonstrate what is really important at Christmas? We are excited about the early interest from the business community signing on to grant wishes. And, with Elf vouchers available from $1.00 we are seeing retailers planning on giving these to customers when they make a purchase”, says campaign manager Lee Hales.

Anyone is welcome to participate in this simple way to reward staff, clients, friends and family whilst supporting charity. To get involved and learn more contact elf@givealittle.co.nz , the Givealittle team 04 472 5160 or follow @Givealittle_Elf on Twitter.
