Six Remain in Inaugural 42 Unheard Contest
Media Release: 11th November 2009
For Immediate Release
42BELOW, in association with MTV New Zealand, NZ On Air, Universal Records and Red Bull present: 42UNHEARD
After an initial 357 entries, a shortlist of
twenty went up for the public vote, and now only six remain
in the running for a chance to win the inaugural 42Unheard
competition.
The public voting section of the
competition was overwhelming, to say the very least –
around 15,000 votes were registered through the four weeks
of the public nomination section, and in the end, those
votes cast fourteen aside leaving six moving forwards to the
Grand Final, and one performance away from a recording deal,
a trip to New York to play CMJ 2010, a $5000 video grant and
many more lucrative prizes and opportunities.
During
this final process, two bands were tied for fourth place,
while one band was chosen as a wild card entrance by the
judges, (who include Gin Wigmore), who will all be present
as the finalists perform on December 11th 2009 at The
Transmission Room in Auckland.
The 42UNHEARD 2009
Finalists, in no particular order, are:
For Da Grind
(Auckland – RnB with a little Rock)
Rap Authoritar (Wellington – Rap with a little Electro)
Ruby Frost (Auckland – Pop with a little Indie)
The Frisk (Auckland – Indie with a little Rock)
The Pink Pound Experience (Auckland – Indie with a little Electro)
Tiddabades (Wellington – Dance with a little Dance)
Winners of
the 10 prize packs to those who voted online will be
announced shortly and all the news leading up to the grand
final can be viewed by visiting the 42UNHEARD website; http://www.mtv42unheard.com
