International Jazz And Blues Festival To Rock The Nation Over Summer
Prepare to be transported to the blues zone by the celebrated Billy TK Jnr and a clutch of top-flight guest artists at the International Jazz and Blues Festival this summer.
Billy TK Jnr is being joined by the Los Angeles' sultry blues singer Diana Harris and San Francisco soul queen Edna Love.
Organiser Billy TK Jnr is promising an awesome summer night of soul, rock and blues.
His latest album Presenting Billy TK Jnr is just out and creating waves on both sides of the Tasman – and not just because of a real knock-out version of JJ Cales' Cocaine or his original Dream Girl. Keep a look-out for the Dream Girl video.
It's been a busy year for the second generation musician. He spends a lot of time on the road fronting the Holden Driving Towards a Future road safety campaign which saw him perform to more than 60,000 students in 2009.
It's a charity dear to his heart and one he established when he saw a friend's daughter in ICU after she was involved in a high speed alcohol fueled accident.
He's also been rocking the socks off thousands in New Zealand, Australia and New Caledonia, and is still riding a high after playing lead guitar for Jimmy Barnes at the 2009 A Day on the Green in New Zealand.
Diana Harris and Edna Love, Billy's special guests on the summer tour, are seasoned performers who bring a world class taste of soul and blues to his epic sounds. Love is the undisputed queen of the San Francisco soul and blues scene, with a repertoire that includes Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, melded with originals.
Blues singer Diana Harris is another stunning performer who also plays in a band with CSI star Marge Helberger in Hollywood. Her authentic blues and rock 'n roll show that has encapsulated many a crowd in the US will get everyone's toes a-tapping.
“This will be a tour to remember,” says Billy TK Jnr. “You'd be a fool to miss it if you love world class blues and rock.”
The tour starts in Henderson on December 10, and runs through to January 4 when it winds up in Gisborne.
