Rhombus- Kapiti Coast Dub Xmas Special

Rhombus- Kapiti Coast Dub Xmas Special

Saturday 19 December 2009, Paekakariki Memorial Hall

Fresh from being voted best band at Toast Martinborough 2009, iconic Wellington band Rhombus are set to perform their last show for 2009 and kickstart their Aoteraoa summer touring at Paekakariki Memorial Hall.

Performing for the first time ever in Kapiti, Rhombus Live will feature the soulful vocal styles of Lisa Tomlins (Fly My Pretties, Little Bushman, Shapeshifter and more), Raashi Sheehan and MC Antsman, along with the sonic dub and bass stylings of Simon Rycroft, Thomas Voyce, DJ Koa, and Peter Hill on guitar.

Rhombus have forged a well-deserved reputation as one of New Zealand's most original and energetic live acts. Their South Pacific brew of electronic dub n' bass, hip-hop, soul, funk, and roots-reggae will be enhanced with live visuals by Artivist.

Since their first album Bass Player in 2002, Rhombus have been touring in New Zealand and internationally, generating rave reviews and performances, winning awards and gaining thousands of fans across the world.

The release of their third self-titled album late last year received glowing reviews, and features a collaboration with Jamaica’s Studio One artists Ranking Joe.

Rhombus have also taken their blend of socially conscious lyrics and dub and bass sound around the Pacific and the Carribbean on the Japan-based global NGO Peace Boat, spreading their values of sustainability, co-operation and peace.

Their unique sound has put them at the top of the New Zealand music industry, having performed alongside the likes of St Germain (France), Fat Freddy's Drop, Salmonella Dub, Michael Franti (USA), Dry and Heavy (Japan), Gomez (UK), Kora, Shapeshifter, and Katchafire.

Rhombus and guests play at the Paekakariki Memorial Hall, Sat 19th Dec 2009.
