WHAT'S ON at THENEWDOWSE 7 December until Christmas
Lisa
Walker: Unwearable opens this Saturday, 12 December 2009
until 14 February 2010 TheNewDowse celebrates the
achievements of one of New Zealand's most internationally
successful jewellers with Unwearable, a survey exhibition
that traces the dramatic changes in Lisa Walker's practice
since the early 1990s - a tantalising transition from the
traditional and wearable to the non. Trading in her
soldering torch for the fast draw of the glue gun, Lisa
Walker has spent the past 15 years living and working in
Germany where her jewellery has evolved beyond the realm of
practicality. Unwearable coincides with Walker's return from
Germany with her family to live in Island Bay, Wellington.
Curated by Damian Skinner. Walker has just received news
that she is to be the 2010 recipient of the Françoise van
den Bosch Award. The award is presented every two years to
an (international) jewellery artist whose work is of
outstanding quality. www.francoisevandenbosch.nl Santa's
