20 Year Syndicate Of Three From Gisborne Claim 1M

20 Year Syndicate Of Three From Gisborne Claim $1 Million Lotto Prize

A syndicate of three friends from Gisborne, who have been playing the same Lotto numbers for 20 years, are the latest winners of a $1 million Lotto First Division prize.

One member of the syndicate, who usually buys the Lotto ticket every week, checked the Lotto numbers on Sunday morning and saw that they matched their regular six numbers.

The numbers were first chosen 20 years ago by the syndicate members buying lucky dips. They have kept going with those same numbers since then, only missing one draw in their 20 year history.

“We’ve been playing these numbers for quite a while so I’m pretty familiar with them now and I couldn’t quite believe it when I was checking the paper,” says one of the syndicate.

“I took the ticket to the Lotto store to double check it was a winner and then I thought it would be fun to tell the other two syndicate members in person,” he adds.

The other male in the syndicate was relaxing at home when he was told the news and was thrilled to hear their Lotto commitment had paid off after all these years. He was made redundant earlier this year so the win is especially timely for him.

The female member of the syndicate was working when she was told the news and almost fell off her chair. As a recent widow she was delighted with the news that her future is now looking financially secure.

The syndicate have no plans to ‘splash the cash’ extravagantly and say that paying off their respective mortgages features high on their ‘to-do’ lists.

Upgrading their choice of wine will also be top of the shopping list for Christmas Eve.

They will share the $1 million equally, giving them each a prize total of $333,333.

The winning ticket was sold at Lytton West Post and Lotto in Gisborne.
