Number 1 Shoes And The Edge Send Kids Back To School In Style!

Number 1 Shoes in association with The Edge choppered one lucky Blenheim winner and two of his friends back to school in a helicopter this morning as part of a radio and in-store promotion.

Matthew Threadwell of Marlborough Boys College was the South Island winner of the nationwide Number 1 Shoes ‘back-to-school’ competition with The Edge’s breakfast hosts Jay-Jay, Mike and Dom. The whole school lined up on the field this morning to watch Matthew and his friends touch down, and when asked about his big win, Matthew said “[This has been] one of the best experiences of my life so far, I think I need to invest in a helicopter!”

Thanks to Number 1 Shoes, Matthew’s school, Marlborough Boys College, also received a cheque this morning for $1,000 to spend at their local Number 1 Shoes store. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the school was principal Wayne Hegarthy, who said “we already have an initiative set up to supply school shoes … so this is a great help to keep the programme going to enable us to continue supporting families that need it.”

The Number 1 Shoes promotion received over 5000 entries from across the country in just three weeks. The North Island winner, from Palmerston North, will get her fly back to school in style tomorrow morning.
