MEDIA RELEASE

SBS Bank staff ready for Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival

Staff at SBS Bank in Gore are counting down to the 2010 Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival and can’t wait to share in the exceptional community atmosphere that the annual event generates.

It is the fourth year SBS Bank has been involved with the festival, being held on Saturday 27 February, in the Gore Arts and Heritage Precinct, and SBS Bank Gore manager Scott Bowden said being involved with the festival was a great kick-start to the year.

“The festival has got a great community spirit about it. That atmosphere, coupled with a fantastic line up of entertainment and an array of fine food and refreshments, makes for a pretty special day.

“As the official Bank for the festival, our team will be on site to provide festival goers with the necessary cash to sample all the amazing food and beverages.

“It’s really exciting to be part of community event that continues to grow and put our region on national and international map of must-do events. The entertainment line-up alone this year is remarkable and festival co-ordinator Melissa King has really outdone herself this year in terms of what’s on offer.

“As New Zealand’s only customer-owned bank we’re totally about supporting our community and the beauty of the Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival is that it’s such a feel-good, make-you-proud event. That fits perfectly in sync with our SBS Bank values too,” Mr Bowden said.

Festival co-ordinator Melissa King said without the help of such supportive sponsors, like SBS Bank and all the other willing organisations that were on board again this year, the festival couldn’t continue to evolve to the level it has been able to.

“Support from the community is so valuable, particularly when this event is all about community – it’s from the community, it’s for the community and it’s representative of our local community and its heritage.”

“We want to be able to give the festival patrons an exciting and innovative musical festival, while complimenting the theme of heritage and the surroundings – it’s about getting outside the comfort zone while creating a niche for alternative country music. Compliment everything with some incredible food and refreshments and it is certain to be a fantastic day.”

Tickets are just $15 from the Gore Visitors Centre.
