Contact TriWoman Series powers its way into Rotorua
Hundreds of women are expected to hit the ground running in Rotorua for the Contact TriWoman Series on Sunday 21 February.
Contact Energy has extended its relationship with Triathlon New Zealand with the addition of the first ever Contact TriWoman Series, held in 10 different locations across the country.
The Contact TriWoman Series at the Blue Lake, Rotorua involves a variety of short distance triathlon and duathlon events, with women of all ages and abilities given the opportunity to take part in a 300m swim, a 9km bike ride and a 3km run or walk.
“We are delighted to be extending our sponsorship to include the TriWoman Series, which is all about giving it a go in a fun and relaxed environment. We hope women of all ages and levels of fitness feel inspired to take part in a triathlon this summer and enjoy the satisfaction of crossing the finish line,” said Craig Griffiths, Contact Sponsorship Manager.
As principal sponsor, Contact Energy works in partnership with Tri NZ to help continue to grow the sport and increase participation across all levels. Last year, Contact’s sponsorship of the Tri Series helped to achieve a dramatic increase in the number of people taking part, with participation growing by 38 per cent over the previous year.
Entries for the 2009/10 Contact Tri Series and Tri Woman Series are still being accepted online or at registration at the Blue Lake, Tarawera Rd, Rotorua between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday 20 February. There are no late entries on the day.
“What we love about triathlon as a sport is that it’s so accessible – there really is an event for everyone. We encourage anyone who’s ever thought about doing a triathlon to come on down to the Blue Lake and give it a go,” said Craig Griffiths.
