GirlGuiding NZ in partnership with Westpac
A new partnership between GirlGuiding New Zealand (NZ) and Westpac New Zealand Ltd will provide a wide range of opportunities for the girls’ organisation.
Westpac has a majority of women employees and is pleased to partner with a proudly girls-only organisation like GirlGuiding New Zealand, said Colleen Bermingham-Brown, Community Engagement Manager for Westpac.
The partnership enables GirlGuiding New Zealand to sell Guide biscuits, the major fundraiser for the registered charity, at local Westpac branches throughout the country.
“GirlGuiding NZ relies on people helping out during this busy time and we are happy to do whatever we can to help raise money for this great organisation.”
The high profile locations of more than 200 Westpac branches, and the resulting foot traffic, will provide a major boost to increasing sales of Guide biscuits, said Ruth Teasdale, Chief Executive of GirlGuiding NZ.
“Local communities will reap the benefits as money raised from biscuit sales goes directly back into their own Pippin, Brownie, Guide and Ranger groups,” she said.
Westpac is GirlGuiding New Zealand’s bank and will be involved in providing information to members, staff and volunteers about financial management along with information packs.
“We are planning on delivering Westpac’s Managing Your Money financial literacy workshops to the Guiding community – this is just another way Westpac can add value,” said Colleen Bermingham-Brown.
In addition, the enormous volunteer resource of Westpac employees will be available to GirlGuiding NZ. Employees are encouraged to utilise their paid Volunteer Leave Day to volunteer for organizations such as GirlGuiding New Zealand.
Both organisations will look at working together on a range of events, including working with the Halberg Trust supporting young people with disabilities participate in community sports events, as well as beach cleans ups for the Sir Peter Blake Trust.
“We see our involvement with GirlGuiding NZ in the long term and are excited about developing and strengthening this partnership,” said Colleen Bermingham-Brown from Westpac.
