Support Act For Blues Legend John Mayall makes for a Blues Extravaganza!

Legendary UK Blues Man, John Mayall is in town next month for an extensive tour of New Zealand. With a discography longer than your arm, Mayall has been influential on some of the biggest names in music including Eric Clapton and Mick Fleetwood.

Dropping jaws across Europe over the last year, John Mayall's current touring band, notably including his latest guitar discovery from Texas, Rocky Athas, is rounded out with a hard-hitting blues rhythm section from Chicago: Greg Rzab on bass and Jay Davenport on drums; Tom Canning on organ and piano; and, of course, John Mayall on keyboards, organ, harmonica, guitar and vocals. It is with this new line up, John Mayall produced his 57th studio album, ‘Tough’, that was released in 2009.

Joining John Mayall will be NZ’s own legendary blues-man, Hammond Gamble. Since the mid 70’s Gamble’s songwriting prowess has captured fan’s imaginations and fellow songwriter’s envy. Originally with his band Street Talk, Gamble's powerful stage presence swiftly drew career-altering attention with opportunities to work with Chris Hillman, (The Byrds) and Kim Fowley (Joan Jett, The Runaways).

Hammond Gamble’s solo career has spawned four albums and a number one hit in the early '90s with You Make the Whole World Smile. He's played support with some of the world’s finest acts including The Eagles, Joe Cocker, Talking Heads, Bonnie Raitt, Fleetwood Mac and Tina Turner.

These shows will undoubtedly be an extravaganza evening of glorious blues, amazing musicianship and good times not to be missed!
